Labour-aid recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups coconut water (rich in potassium)
1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (vitamin C & natural sugars for energy)
1-2 tbsp raw honey (natural carbohydrate source)
1/4 teaspoon sea salt (sodium - essential for hydration)
1-2 tbsp lemon or lime juice (flavour + extra vitamin C)
Optional: 1 dose of magnesium powder (for muscle relaxation)
Optional: mint leaves or ginger root
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients in a jar or bottle. Use room temperature coconut water to allow the honey to dissolve easily. Shake until salt and honey are fully dissolved. Chill in the fridge, serve over ice.
Handy tips
Pre-prepared ice cubes: To reduce volume, mix all ingredients minus the coconut water and freeze into ice cubes. When it is time, simply add the concentrated ice cubes to coconut water.
